America 250 on The River

Music always brings people together, and here in Baton Rouge we’ll never pass up a good time to celebrate. Join us at Repentance Park in Downtown Baton Rouge for America 250 on the River, a concert featuring live musical performances from Amanda Shaw, Rockin Dopsie Jr., John Schneider, and Wayne Toups. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this free concert just in time to get a front row view of the fireworks over the Mississippi River!

Program

The celebration begins at 2 p.m. at Repentance Park, located between the Old State Capitol and the Raising Cane’s River Center, and features an afternoon and evening of live entertainment showcasing Louisiana talent and American pride. The evening will culminate at 9 p.m. with the Visit Baton Rouge & WBRZ Fireworks on the Mississippi, lighting up the downtown skyline and Mississippi River waterfront.

The concert lineup includes:

  • 2:15 p.m. – The Military Concert Band, performing patriotic favorites and honoring the nation’s military heritage through a stirring musical tribute.
  • 3:30 p.m. – Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters, internationally acclaimed ambassadors of Louisiana zydeco music known for their high-energy performances and Grammy-nominated recordings.
  • 5 p.m. – Amanda Shaw, Louisiana’s celebrated fiddler, singer, and songwriter whose unique blend of Cajun, rock, country, and pop music has made her a favorite across the Gulf South and beyond.
  • 6:30 p.m. – John Schneider, actor, singer, and Louisiana resident best known for his role as Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard and for his successful country music career, which includes multiple No. 1 hits.
  • 8 p.m. – Wayne Toups, the Grammy Award-winning musician widely recognized as the “King of ZydeCajun,” whose groundbreaking fusion of Cajun music, zydeco, and rock has made him one of Louisiana’s most influential and beloved performers for more than four decades.
