DESCRIPTION:The St. Charles Parish America 250 Committee invites the community to a special evening of music\, history\, and patriotic pride as part of our local celebrations for America’s 250th Anniversary. The commemorative concert will feature a set by the world-renowned Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra at the Dr. Rodney R. Lafon Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday\, April 18\, 2026. The event’s title sponsors are Dow\, IMTT\, Shell\, and Valero. Additional support has been provided by Louisiana’s River Parishes Tourist Commission and America 250 Louisiana Commission. \n“This concert is a special opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States\,” said Parish President Matthew Jewell. “For 250 years\, America has stood as a beacon of liberty\, opportunity\, and self-government. Through music and reflection\, we’ll honor the generations who built this nation and celebrate the enduring spirit that continues to unite Americans today.” \nThe family-friendly performance will include patriotic favorites\, American classics\, and historical readings that honor our nation’s past\, celebrate our present\, and look forward with hope to our future. Tickets cost $25 each and are available for purchase online here. There will be only one performance of this concert\, so families are encouraged to secure their tickets early.

Trust us\, you won’t want to miss this free concert just in time to get a front row view of the fireworks over the Mississippi River! \nProgram\nThe celebration begins at 2 p.m. at Repentance Park\, located between the Old State Capitol and the Raising Cane’s River Center\, and features an afternoon and evening of live entertainment showcasing Louisiana talent and American pride. The evening will culminate at 9 p.m. with the Visit Baton Rouge & WBRZ Fireworks on the Mississippi\, lighting up the downtown skyline and Mississippi River waterfront. \nThe concert lineup includes: \n\n2:15 p.m. – The Military Concert Band\, performing patriotic favorites and honoring the nation’s military heritage through a stirring musical tribute.\n3:30 p.m. – Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters\, internationally acclaimed ambassadors of Louisiana zydeco music known for their high-energy performances and Grammy-nominated recordings.\n5 p.m. – Amanda Shaw\, Louisiana’s celebrated fiddler\, singer\, and songwriter whose unique blend of Cajun\, rock\, country\, and pop music has made her a favorite across the Gulf South and beyond.\n6:30 p.m. – John Schneider\, actor\, singer\, and Louisiana resident best known for his role as Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard and for his successful country music career\, which includes multiple No. 1 hits.\n8 p.m. – Wayne Toups\, the Grammy Award-winning musician widely recognized as the “King of ZydeCajun\,” whose groundbreaking fusion of Cajun music\, zydeco\, and rock has made him one of Louisiana’s most influential and beloved performers for more than four decades.
